Common sense says to keep your marijuana products away from your pets, but new studies have shown how effective whole cannabis flower products can be for your furry friend! CBD oil, or cannabidiol, is just one chemical compound in the cannabis plant that can be extracted and used for medical benefits in both humans and animals. Both have cannabinoid receptors in the brain, which allow cannabis products to attach to these receptors. Cannabinoids have anti-inflammatory properties and can help with pain, tumors, seizures, muscle spasms, skin conditions, appetite stimulation, aggression, anxiety and neurological disorders. With these kinds of benefits, and virtually no side effects, CBD oil has become a highly sought after herbal remedy for both humans and their animal companions.
Veterinarians are finding that CBD can also be useful in treating acute ailments like sprains, ligament tears, broken bones and even for use after operations to reduce swelling and pain. CBD may even make it possible to lower dosages of conventional drugs used for all these conditions, reducing the side effects sometimes experienced with regular medications.
Check out this video below released by Rocky the dog’s owner, showing how quickly two sprays of CBD oil can calm a seizure in the pup. It’s obvious in the beginning of the video that Rocky has started to have a scary seizure, and we can see his mouth drooling and head vibrating uncontrollably. His owner shows the camera a spray bottle of CBD oil he uses to spray two squirts into the dog’s mouth. Within seconds we can see the calming effects of the oil, and the dog’s seizure ceases in under a minute. Rocky is ready for playtime in no time! This is just one visually striking example of the good this herb can do.
There are some specialty cannabis products for dogs on the market already, but any CBD oil or spray can be used.
